Medieval lute

Gittern

A small lute from the Middle Ages. Also known as Gittern, it has a body carved from a single tree and produces a beautiful mid-high range sound despite its small size. It is an ancient instrument that is indispensable for playing the accompaniment and tunes of medieval songs.

The style played by the plectrum (pick) may also be characteristic.

Katerina is one of the musical instruments made from the trees in the forest around us.
