Kazuo Moroboshi

Born in Tokyo in 1940

Graduated from the Department of Industrial Design, Faculty of Engineering, Chiba University in 1963. Joined Toyota Motor Corporation. Assigned to the design department, in charge of designing the first Corolla,

Since then, he has been in charge of the Corolla brand for three generations, playing a part in growing it into a global mass-produced model.

1965 Established "Yorozukai" (1965-2001) with students who yearn for Shinji Koike, a teacher at Chiba University.

​   Chiba University Faculty of Engineering Department of Industrial Design OBOG Taiji Width, Yoko Uga , Yasuko Yamaguchi and others.

In 1969, he was sent to study abroad at the Illinois Institute of Technology Institute of Design (Chicago, USA) from Toyota.

1971 To Toyota Headquarters Design Department. After returning to Japan, he was in charge of Toyota's first front-wheel drive compact sedan, the Tercel / Corsa.

Returned to the United States in 1976. Moved to Calty Design Research Inc. as a general manager.

Together with local staff, he is involved in design activities based in the United States and the operation of the front line of Toyota vehicles entering the United States.

1977 Toyota Headquarters Design Department Chief Staff.

1983 Deputy General Manager, Planning and Development Office, Design Department, Toyota Headquarters. Announced the prototype of the Tokyo Motor Show RAV4.

  It became the beginning of the global trend of small SUV type four-wheel drive vehicles.

1989 General Manager of Planning and Development Office, Design Department, Toyota Headquarters. Organized the conference as the executive committee chairman of the World Design Conference (ICSID89 Nagoya).

Received the Mainichi Design Award Special Award on behalf of the staff.

1990 Director of Toyota Tokyo Design Center.

1992 General Manager of Toyota Tokyo Design Department.

1995 Toyota Headquarters Design Department Manager, Tokyo Design Center Director (Director), Prius concept model

Announced at the Tokyo Motor Show. This will lead to the production of the world's first mass-produced hybrid sedan.

1997 Returned to the United States. Vice President of Calty Design Research Inc.

2001 Established a global system for design organizations as Deputy General Manager of Toyota Design Headquarters.

Received the Katsumi Katsu Award in 2002 and highly evaluated his contribution to design and industry.

2003 Retired from Toyota Motor Corporation. Executive Technical Advisor of Toyota Techno Service Co., Ltd.

"Moromoro Juku" is opened.

Published the special issue of "Kazuo Morohoshi Toyota Design" by Italian design magazine "CAR MEN 13" (Automobilia).

2005 Retired from Toyota Techno Service Co., Ltd.

2007 Developed the phantom car Publica Sports Restoration Project.

Presented the 2010 Publica Sports Restoration Project plan as a project leader.

2012 Publica Sports (restored car) completed.

2015 Published "Restoration of Thoughts Publica Sports Toyota Sports 800 Origin" by Kazuo Moroboshi.
